As additional online and blended courses are offered as a means to provide greater CSU student access to educational opportunities, it is critical to define quality online teaching and learning, as well as to determine how to assess it and make desired improvements. There are many skeptics who question the quality of online teaching and therefore it is necessary to identify how to prepare instructors to effectively teach online or blended courses. In commitment to quality, the CSU offers multiples services and resources to faculty and students regarding: Instructional Quality; Universal Design for Learning/Accessibility, and; Academic Integrity.
CSU Quality Assurance efforts are resulting in a significant and growing number of faculty and staff to: complete training in exemplary online practices; become certified reviewers of online courses, and/or; have their fully online courses certified as meeting established quality standards. In addition, the CSU Student Quality Assurance Impact Research (SQuAIR) project is determining the impact of these activities on student success.
